Ludum Dare #30 – Connected Worlds

Sometimes a jam’s theme speaks to me and this is one of them. I had zero plans on jamming and knew that doing so would leave me burnt out just before a difficult week of work. My idea was conceived over a walk and the understanding was that I couldn’t spend more than six hours total on the project. In the end, I cheated and checked in at 7.5 hours but the end product was not just playable but somewhat polished and even FUN. Made using ImpactJS, but the internals were gutted for simple canvas draw calls, mostly for line and circles of various radius.

The game includes a host of random planet names, a mechanic of connecting planets via interplanetary networks using relay planets or satellites. Interruptions cause a break and loss of signal data over time and can happen via comets or planetary rotation rates.
